Following on from EMISTools, the EMIS EC Upload Tool processes SASAMS databases from the province's schools. At 5612 schools, this translates to approximately 561GB of data in the form of MS Access databases. The EMIS EC Upload tool processes these databases as efficiently and quickly as possible - reaching speeds of around 1000 databases a day. Data is pumped into a SQL Warehouse for further analysis with each Quarterly warehouse reaching sizes of approx. 1.2TB. The system is (currently) written using C# and makes heavy use of parallel processing, scaled bulk insert and efficient error reporting (in a friendly way).

EMISTools.co.za processes monthly SASAMS submissions from 5612 schools around the Eastern Cape. I was responsible for developing this as an independent contractor for Deloitte Consulting in East London and for the Eastern Cape Department of Education. I have since joined Deloitte in a development position and am continually improving the system. The system is (currently) written in ASP.net and leverages agile methodology and a lot of optimisation.
